Prioridade Absoluta (Absolute Priority) is a program created by the Alana Institute with the mission to bring enforcement and awareness to the Article 227 of the Brazilian Federal Constitution, which establishes children and adolescents’ rights and best interest as the absolute priority of families, society and the State. Through its activities, the program seeks to inform, raise awareness and mobilize people, families, organizations, businesses and public authorities to assume the common responsibility for this constitutional duty.

The program also develops advocacy initiatives and strategic litigation towards institutions from the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary branches with the intention of demanding absolute priority to safeguarding children and adolescents’ rights in the face of violations and in the development of public policies and budgetary decisions. To this end, it develops advocacy initiatives along four issues: Access to Justice, Social-Environmental and Climate Justice, Media and Information, and Public Funds.
